Synopsis | Chanteloube Wood. The body of Antoine Noiret, an eminent professor of oncology, is found in the Mare au Diable. Ritual signs found around the pond suggest that the victim was sacrificed during a Sabbath, a witchcraft ceremony. Was it a real human sacrifice or a tragic overflow of a cultural event organised by local artists? For Basile Tissier, a policeman from Bourges sent to the investigation as an observer, the investigations begin in the heart of the Berrichonne countryside, the countryside of his childhood, which he has fled. A countryside where the rational competes with the irrational of magnetizers and witch doctors, and where George Sand has left her lasting mark. Fortunately, he can count on the help and foresight of Solène Durel, a country doctor, who knows the local people well but also... The victim. |
